Millennium Ride with Pathfinder Cycling Club

Ample amount of free time, two days of holiday and bike in hand. We had perfect requirement to do something serious in cycling. Sketching down the audacious plan was easy but execution would have been difficult. No one being experienced in more than km ride, task was indeed looking dicey.
Mak along with Anurag were early birds for this trip. Soon Jagdish Rao joined the party.

We started off from our scheduled departure sharp at 6:00AM. Destination being  "T.G. Halli" Water Dam and "Manchinabelle" Reservoir, we took most beautiful Magadi Road.

Essential Equipment
Road till the magadi road junction was quite flat to cover soon. Brief congestion at KR market was ugly but rest was fun to drive.
I had taken my GPS with open street maps as road companion. We  took halt for breakfast on magadi road. Wit good load of carbohydrates we headed to conquer of remaining journey.

Road To TG Halli reservoir passes through lots of ups and downs. Keep the energy intact by keeping right gear ratio for ascend. With maximum of 9 % slope on route it was slightly on tougher side to manage.

On BWSS pipeline road.
BWSS pipeline road was something to experience. Dead straight road with crazy ups and downs and broken tarmac was a heck of thing to ride on. Anurag had near miss on that road.

BWSS Pipeline Road
couple of hours of riding we managed to reach TG halli. Since we had no permissionfor TG halli we, headed straight to Manchinabelle reservoir. TG halli to Manchnabelle route is very steep. It's real test of ones fitness.
Fun is to conquer the steep without climbing down from bike.

Fantastic Biryani on the way back!

we were lucky to find restaurant close to manchinabelle lake. Food was average but it was much needed.
with stomach full of food we headed back towards bangalore via Mysore road.

Route Details and Statistics
Taking mysore road was not a good decision. Reason being quite obvious with heavy construction work and scary public transport. We had planned for 100Kms but managed to clock 130KMs in a day.

This trip was wonderful and good excursion from Bangalore city traffic. Overall it proved to be good test of stamina for all to do more challenging rides!
