KAGBHUSHANDI TAL TREK


How to Reach: Govind Ghat – Bhyundar – Kagbhushandi Tal (30 km trek), Govind Ghat – Joshimath ( 20 km by road).

Altitude: 5230 meters

Difficulty level:  High

When to Go :  During monsoon (Mid June – September).


Duration:  5 Days

Description:  The lake with emerald green water is situated in the lap of Hathi Parvat.  During monsoon the lake is surrounded by the floral bloom and makes the visitor enthralled. The name of the lake comes from – as two huge rocks on a spur of Hathi Parvat are described as a Crow (Kaga) and an Eagle (Garuda). According to local legends Kaga is animatedly conversing with Garuda on the affairs of the universe. According to another legend a sage named Lomes cursed a learned Brahmin of Ayodhya and turned him into the form of a crow. The trek passes through glaciers and rocky terrains.
